TESTIMONIALS
“Ben from Boys Light Up Electrical designed and fitted our pool and garden lighting. His work was second to none. He was extremely helpful during the design process, giving us ideas and options that we hadn’t previously thought of.
We were so impressed that we’ve had him do extra work at our holiday house. Nothing is too much trouble.
I would highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical work.”
“Ben recently looked over the wiring in my salon. As my building is old, he checked that all of my safety switches were working correctly and replaced my old light fittings.
Thank you, Boys Light Up Electrical!”

BEFORE CALLING AN ELECTRICIAN
6 HANDY HINTS WHEN YOU LOSE POWER IN YOUR HOME
Locate your switchboard - commonly found by the front door, on the side of your house in in your electrical meter box, or in a cupboard.
See if you can reset any of the ‘tripped’ breakers. These breakers (the little switches) will be facing down and are labelled ‘power, light or safety switch’. To reset them, flip them back up - only try this once at this stage.
The breaker may flip back down again, which means we have a problem. Retrace your steps to the last thing you did before the power went out (i.e. did you turn on a light switch, plug in or turn on an appliance?)
If you were using an appliance, turn it off and unplug it. If you turned on a light switch, turn it off again.
Return to your switchboard and try to flip up the ‘tripped’ breaker switch. If the breaker stays up and your power returns, you’ve probably located the problem. Your appliance or light may be faulty and you will need to get it replaced.
If it’s a small, plugged in appliance you can unplug it and get rid of it yourself (I can also double check this for you first!). If it’s a hard wired appliance or light, you will need an electrician to help you out.Just remember, generally the last thing you were doing is the culprit. That being said, it could be a random appliance that decided to die. You may be able to determine this by unplugging all the appliances in your home and using the process of elimination - or just contact your friendly neighbourhood electrician!
[Ben’s disclaimer: This is general advice only, but every home and problem is different. If in doubt, call me out!]
SWITCHBOARD SAFETY
A GIFT FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS
Unsafe switchboards are highly dangerous - they can lead to fires, electric shocks and even death. Far too many people are hurt in Australian homes every year in preventable electrical accidents.
That’s why I’m committed to helping home owners and their families stay safe.
When you hire Boys Light Up Electrical, you can request a visual safety check of your home’s switchboard. There is no additional cost for this - consider it a gift from my family to yours.
